The LO Conference, which takes place every four years, is one of the more prestigious conference event in Norway attracting high profile participants such as the Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and many of Norway’s top politicians.
Smartcom:tv produced several 3-camera webcasts of the 5-day conference displayed on web TV and the big screen in the conference hall. In addition, the contents were published on a number of online news sites as well as online communities such as Origo where it was linked with chat and live blogging.
Twitter was also instrumental in circulating the LO broadcast. The role such social medias has played in boosting the conference's visability is a new development for LO. It is yet another example of how social media has gained in relevance and become vital in the spreading of information.
